Space Poem

hi there

… space is like cool and stuff…

i always thought it'd be blacker at night in space,

but then i realised that there is no room for that kind of absurdity up here.

night is as black as a burnt sausage behind the atmosphere.

and the thought of day is not quite as bright as a noble knight.

the trip up was a blast

but i don't like the idea of re-entry,

what if i fall on the clouds again?

When he comes

He's riding six white horses
and with rings upon his fingers
He tells the people stories smoking cigarette smell lingers
And some day
very soon
you'll be gone

I was there for you
You weren't there for me
and now the time has gone
a reluctant sing along to this song
and very soon
you'll be gone

Weariness it takes its toll
His body fears of getting old
the pieces that he left behind
are slowly fading into time
thats passing us by
and you'll be gone

I was there for you
you weren't there for me
and now the time has gone
a reluctant sing along to this song
and very soon
you'll be gone

Although
the best of you
is consumed by
an un told truth
I know who
this man longs to be
it seems he cries
I will be coming around the bend.
again

Land of cow, wind and cheese

the Isle of Mull is 45 minuets of the coast of scotland (two and half hours drive from our house, then a cross water).
And what a worth while trip it was

Never have I seen such landscape..ever.

One minuet we're on the free way, the next we turn a corner and theres a giant mountain covered in snow!.

Hills for miles and miles and locks (lakes as they are called in the land of oz) a plenty.
Grant said an amazing one liner as we drove through the highlands "If every Lock in Scotland had a monster in it, they'd be able to start their own space jam team" ha love it

We saw the highlands from the best seat it could ever be seen in...horse back..well more like highland pony back (almost as big as a horse and shaggier)

We trekked for two and a half ours..just grant i and the lady who owned the horses. Through the ocean, rivers, mountains and forests. An experience ill never forget.
Another I'll never forget is Grants first fall off a horse. It's said that it takes seven before you can say your a horse rider..so he now has six to go. So proud :)

We also took a wee trip to the Isle of Iona, where Christianity was brought to Scotland by Columba of Ireland. A pinocle and holy sight we were told...but it was mostly just full of tourists (sadly i have to say we were part of that majority...)

To be a local on this Island would be an amazing experience. Such peace, community and beauty from one end of the Isle to the other.

Grant got all bushman like (must be the beard) and decided we should go bush (not much bush though) and climb the tallest mountain on the island. So we jumped a few fences and off we trekked. Once at the top we could see the whole island...we had a little nap at the top in the sun and long grass before venturing our way back down.

I have to say, I've never seen sheep and highland cows that own the road before..but now Im fully educated. The sheep have different coloured spray paint on their backs, which Im guessing determined who's who. Clever bunch.

I leave you with the photographic evidence of a trip well had

The park bench at the top of pride rock

The abbey

Half way

Made it

This poor old soul..the ring was coursing his nose to bleed, and his eyes just looked so sad. my heart broke for this poor old bull.

This beautiful old lady, taking the trip to the post office, was a breath of fresh air

For mum. A bed and breakfast on the Isle of Iona just waiting for you

One of the amazing wrecks on the isle of mull. There are hundreds

Cafe fish. Best fish I've ever eaten and presentation. All it needed was a 35 degree day, kids swimming in the ocean and a corona.

good wine too

our new friend we made. We found him stretched out in the sun, in front of the big old doors of the local church. Such a beautiful Ginger mick..

We're back...

Okey so haven't really had any updates for a while, and for that I apologise.

Its been a crazy old time here in windy scotland. For the past three days its been non stop blowing a gale!...Grant and I discovered that when its windy, we get grumpy.

So I've been trying to enjoy uni as much as possible. Already into week 6 and with three assignments on the go..bit stressful, but almost managing.

Artisan is my saving grace. Im learning something new everyday, including the importance of a well kept moustache.
Grant is currently growing a beard in which he is quiet proud of. He just informed me that it's washed and blow dried.

Ive decided that since there has been too much coffee, too much wine and too much carrot cake that im going on the liver detox..again.
10 days of veg, fruit, rice, oats and fish. Im actually excited about the whole thing...again.

We are becoming more and more enveloped in this city.
A friend of ours told us of a music festival in July that is hosted in an old abandoned castle just outside Glasgow, and you can camp for free. Actually we just learnt that you can camp anywhere in scotland..ANYWHERE..
Grant and I just looked at each other and said "So why are we paying rent and council tax again?"

I've decided to make some cards with photographs I've taken on this trip and sell them in the shop, just a little bit of fun. Ill keep you posted

For now i leave you with a little piece of the average week in scotland.

"Beautiful sunshine is finally here"

"The back of our new bike...any name suggestions?"

"Every week a new beautiful dog comes to sit at our front door"

"Cake and tea, the stable diet of the artisans. Lukasz bought a new teapot and it has made its way onto the shelf at the shop"

"A lazy day with the guitar..

"flatty"

"more cake"

"The trip back from glasgow..a long day"
